A little guide to Mac ricing.

Mac ricing brings colors, window layout, and everyday tools together. Start with a Rice Pack, choose a theme, and refine the details in the playground.

Mac ricing means personalizing how your desktop looks and works: its colors, window arrangement, spacing, and the tools you keep close. A good setup feels consistent without getting in your way. In Riceapple, you can start with a Rice Pack, explore its themes, and try the details in your browser before deciding what you like.

Where should I start?

  1. Pick a starting point.

Open Rice Packs. Riceapple Studio offers four themes; the Omarchy-inspired pack offers six. A pack brings a layout and a collection of colors together.

  2. Choose your colors.

Try a light or dark theme. Switching themes keeps your layout, so you can compare the same arrangement in different palettes.

  3. Give the windows some room.

Adjust the gap, border width, layout, and corners. Look for enough separation to read the workspace without losing useful space.

  4. Try it in context.

Move through Everyday, Terminal, Community, Create, and Agents. These are interactive sample scenes, not connected accounts or running native applications.

  5. Keep what you like.

Download a .rice file or copy the configuration for a local coding agent. Saving settings does not apply them to the real desktop.

Do I need to know how to code?

No coding is needed to explore the playground. Use the controls and see the result. Editable configuration and agent instructions are available when you want to work with the details.

What makes a setup feel coordinated?

Start with a palette, keep spacing consistent, and remove visual distractions that do not help your workflow. In his Mac ricing walkthrough, Igor Bedesqui connects a shared palette with keeping tools accessible and clutter out of the way.

Linkarzu’s setup guide shows the more hands-on route, including coordinating colors across individual tools. Those configurations are separate from Riceapple.

Can I use this on an older Mac?

The website playground works in a browser on desktop or mobile. The native Riceapple app targets Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 26 or later. Check the FAQ and release information for the product’s current scope.

Try it for yourself.

A different palette. A little more space. See what feels right.
