FAQs.

A few things you might be wondering.

What does “ricing” mean?

Making your desktop feel like you. The colors, the layout, the little details. Riceapple brings those choices together, starting with a Rice Pack. Start with our Mac ricing guide.

Which Macs is Riceapple designed for?

Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 26 or later. You can also explore the playground in your browser, on desktop or mobile.

Can I try a look before changing my setup?

Absolutely. The playground runs in your browser, so you can try themes, move between scenes, and fine-tune the details without changing your Mac. The app windows are interactive styling demos.

What is a .rice file?

Your setup, in a small editable file: theme, layout, spacing, borders, and corners. Choose Download .rice to save it. Keep it for later, edit it yourself, or bring it to your agent.

Do I need an AI agent?

No. Pick a pack and make it yours with the controls. If you like working with Codex, Claude Code, or another local agent, copy your prompt and settings to keep the conversation going. The copied instructions guide your agent through the Riceapple CLI.

What’s the difference between a Rice Pack and a theme?

A Rice Pack brings a setup together: layout, spacing, and a collection of themes. A theme sets the colors. Switch from one theme to another and your layout stays just how you like it.

Where do my settings go?

They stay in your browser while the page is open. Copy sends them to your clipboard; Download saves a file. Your style request is only shared with an agent when you paste it there yourself. Read our privacy policy for details.

Where should I start?

Choose a Rice Pack, find a theme you love, and play with the details. There’s no account to create. Save your .rice file when it feels right.

Try it for yourself.

A different palette. A little more space. See what feels right.
